Explaining a complex concept to a general audience can be really hard.
Too often, to make it understandable, you sacrifice accuracy.
What if you could have both?
I am a rocket scientist who can write. I’ll help translate your jargon and make complexity simple. I love helping overcome communication bottlenecks and I’m a stickler for technical details. I have bona fide science chops, but I’m happier helping people understand science science than doing research myself. Whether a news release, web tutorial, or a quick tweet, I can help craft and polish the words you need to reach the audience you want.
I’ve been helping people communicate complex ideas in fields from cell biology to space, working with scientists and non-scientists alike, for years. My colleagues know I have a knack for identifying the really important core – and I think out of the box to get the point across.
Creative thinking anecdote: when I was at NASA in the mid 90s, I saw the potential of the brand-new internet to facilitate a kind of deep interaction not found in traditional learning materials. So many of my grad school friends laughed at me! I developed an education application modeled on the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books that took advantage of that structure. My You Be The Astrophysicist exercises are still available on the imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov website twenty years later.
Explore my website for more about my background and samples. I’d love to talk about how to make your science and technology communications rise above the rest.
